Fair in the Square 2017

On June 17th the club ran a booth at Highgate’s annual Fair in the Square. It was a festive summer day and our members enjoyed meeting fairgoers, sharing more about our work and activities, and chatting with other stallholders.

Our booth featured complimentary carnival games and prizes as well as information about some of the charities we’ve supported over the last year.

A Bit of happiness to refugee kids

In collaboration with our sister club Rotary club of Dorn in Holland and the Rotary club of Chouf in Lebanon, we were able to give a little bit of happiness to 78 Syrian refugee kids in the camp of Ketermaya in Lebanon. Last week, these kids aged between 5 and 15 were gifted school bags, stories, stationary, dictionaries and educational games. They were donated upon a camp visit by Mrs. Jouhaina Richani Masri (representing our club) and P Fadi Hounein and HT Walid Hamdan (representing the club of Chouf).

Art and Photography competitions

photoOur club initiated the art and photography competitions amongst school children last year with the help of Mrs. Sugra Tahir. Both competitions have grown this year with the help of Mr. Pankaj Chahwala from the Rotary club of Northwick Park. Special thanks to Mrs. Jackie Oliver for co-judging the entries with Mrs. Maya El Masri Richani.

Blooming Corcuses

In support of Rotary Foundation and with the help of our secretary Mr. Peter Oliver, our club planted 5000 corcuses last year which got into full bloom this year. The kids at Highgate primary school greatly enjoyed helping out in planting 1000 bulbs.
